Hello! My name is Elizabeth Nestlerode, program manager and facilitator for CFC’s free national call-in support group program for parents with a mental health condition. I am also the proud mother of two beautiful children.Parenting is not for the faint of heart, in any circumstance. I was a child of parents with severe mental illness. I am now a mother diagnosed with mental illnesses, including bipolar disorder. I have experienced first-hand the challenges unique to a family where one or more parents has a mental health condition.
As part of my effort to help others who are parenting with a mental health condition, I became an Intentional Peer Support Specialist and received certification in Mental Health First Aid. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social & Behavioral Studies and a Master’s degree in Special Education; with a focus on mental health. I have contributed to books and spoken on the topic of parental mental health.
Knowing that less stressful parenting can lead to a better experience for family members all-around, I became a Simplicity Parenting Family Life Coach.
As I connect with parents who have mental health challenges, I consistently witness the needs and benefits of having a CFC group as part of a parent’s support system. Parents from all over the U.S. are encouraged to connect with us where you will find a caring community of inspiration and support. We don’t have to go this alone.
