On Tuesday, April 22, 2014 two Child and Family Connections executives conducted a workshop presentation entitled, Strategies and Techniques for Empowering Parents with Psychiatric Disabilities.
Evan Kaplan and Crystal Edwards drew upon their own experiences and their work with CFC in an informative and interactive demonstration of how parents with psychiatric disabilities can build trust and communication and promote child and family resiliency.
Also presenting about parents with psychiatric disabilities in the child welfare system and Pennsylvania’s response to these families is Beth Bitler. The Pennsylvania Association of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services (PAPRS) is a growing association of more than 200 psychiatric rehabilitation organizations and practitioners throughout Pennsylvania, working together to promote and support the philosophy, values, and practices of Psychiatric Rehabilitation.
The 2014 PAPRS Conference provided a variety of workshops that were designed for psychiatric rehabilitation practitioners, supervisors, certified peer specialists, mental health practitioners, participants, veterans, and family members advancing their Journey of Recovery.
